Flocculation
Filtration is necessary for removing particles in suspension. The filter retains only particles of certain dimensions. The thinner particles, named colloids, are not retained.
In sand filters the colloids can be retained with the help of a chemical process named flocculation.
This process of particle aggregation prevents the formation of particles in suspension and allows their removal. If we add a flocculant product upstream the filter the flakes that involve the water’s uncleanness are totally retained by the sand filter. The flocculant cartridge was specially designed for that purpose.
